For a long time the received view of the collaborative relationship between Wordsworth and Coleridge has been that Wordsworth was the efficient producer of more finished poetic statements (most notably his long, autobiographical poem The Prelude) and Coleridge, however extraordinary he was a thinker and talker, left behind more intolerably diffuse and fragmented works. Andrew Keanie is a lecturer at the University of Ulster. He is the author of articles on William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Hartley Coleridge. He has written three books for the Greenwich Exchange Student Guide Literary Series on Wordsworth, Coleridge and Byron. He is currently working on a major biography of the poet Hartley Coleridge.
