Making School Work
Written by a practising Headteacher, Making School Work explores the practicalities underpinning successful school leadership. It provides hundreds of examples of tried and tested ideas which have been proven to work in a range of schools.
This book is not an academic review of school improvement research. Nor is it a theoretically-based summary of school leadership models. What it sets out to do is give a pragmatic account of systems and approaches that deliver. By presenting a series of in-depth and practical solutions to the key challenges facing modern school leaders, Making School Work gives all those who lead, or aspire to lead a school, a chance to review their own experiences in the context of someone else's.
Andy Buck is Headteacher of the Jo Richardson Community School in Barking and Dagenham. Prior to that he was Headteacher of the Warren School in Chadwell Heath. He has contributed to a number of school textbooks and sits on the Board of the Training and Development Agency for Schools.
