War
War is continuing in at least 4 areas of the world - in different phases of war: Sudan; Kashmir, Ukraine, the Middle East. The state of war, contrary to what we would wish to believe, seems permanent. It seems part of the human condition - and it is marked in literature. Just peer into the history of the last century as well as this. The common thread is the effect it has on people, traced by writers, poets, artists. And it shows up in our collection of books.
